East Union Street approaching 18th Avenue is a sea of chanting people as approximately 7,000 people participated in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Rally at Garfield High School and march to the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building in Downtown Seattle Monday January 21, 2013. Carmaleigh "Miss Purple" Rice, (white coat, front) and Ana Mensah, 20, held hands together at the front of the line. Mensah is from Ghana and has lived in the U.S. for the last 7 years, Rice is her mentor at the Jefferson Community Center in Seattle.
