Nancy Monahan, retired military, left, and Deb Needham, of Renton, exchanged vows at Seattle City Hall. "We've spent our whole life together on standby," said Monahan, who spoke of their meeting at a coffee shop 14 years ago while on a duty stop in Portland for the U.S. Coast Guard. "I wasn't able to be out when I was in the military, and that's why I'm wearing it today," Monahan said, while dressed in her dress uniform. She thanked the President, Governor Gregoire, and voters of the state of Washington for the special day.
