MOHAI Executive Director Leonard Garfield inside the museum's new location at the South end of Lake Union in the former Naval Reserve Armory. It will open to the public on Dec. 29. Suspended from the ceiling above Garfield is the vintage Boeing B1 bi-plane built for mail delivery between Seattle and Victoria in the 1920's. In the background, other Seattle icons include the restored Rainier Beer "R", center, a scale model of the Kalakala and at left, a neon reproduction of the late Eddie Carlson's early sketch of the Space Needle.
