While others watch, Kas Tommila from Acme, WA participates in "putting the stone", an event that is the same as the Olympic shot put except smooth rounded stones weighing just over 17 or 26 (the heavy stone competition) lbs. are used instead of a steel ball during the Scottish games Saturday. A huge crowd showed up for the 14th annual Whidbey Island Highland Games at Greenbank Farm Saturday. Competitions included highland piping, drumming, dancing and traditional Scottish athletics. Music, Celtic performances, food, vendor shops with traditional Scottish clothing, literature and more were there for all to enjoy.
