Washington State Department of Corrections leaders have offered inmates minimum pay to work with pets including abandoned cats. Many of the cats are troublesome and face euthanization. Inmate Joseph Contreras hangs out with "Princess" Natalie in an outdoor area inside the prison at Larch Corrections Center in Yacolt Washington east of Vancouver near the Oregon border.
