Three people were killed in an avalanche just outside the boundaries of Stevens Pass ski resort, seen above, in the Cascade Mountains in Washington Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012. The two skiers and a snowboarder were in out-of-bounds areas bordering the resorts, where avalanche warnings had been issued for Sunday. The three skiers were expert, longtime regulars of the Stevens Pass resort and were well-known, said Nathan Amisson, a Stevens Pass staff member.
