Namuna Narantsatsral, left, and lab partner Tina Nguyen are into the dissection of a dogfish shark in Ashley Powel's "Form Follows Function" summer school class for fifth through eighth graders at Lakeside Middle School. About 500 students from 120 regional schools are enrolled this summer with almost one-third receiving financial aid. "We want to dissect the animal so students can see how systems work together," says Powel.
