Elwha River Dam shuts down after almost 100 years

Bill Cargo, operator of Elwha Dam, leaves the dam for the last time carrying one of his operator manuals, some old clothes and a can of spray cheese. He operated the dam for nine years and loved the thrum of its generators. "Making 60 cycles," Cargo said, "there's nothing like it."
