The Lincoln Toe Truck
Actually, there are two of them — a left foot and a right. For two decades, the original pink foot-shaped, left-toed vehicle (a fiberglass structure atop an old Volkswagen van) stood at the intersection of Fairview Avenue North and Mercer Street, at the towing company once owned by Ed and Connie Lincoln, who retired in 2000. The left toe will be donated to MOHAI and the right toe, when not in parades, is parked at the Lincoln Towing yard on Aurora Avenue North. In the photo above, a car ran through the signal at the intersection of Mercer and Fairview and stopped underneath the Toe Truck. Read story.
