We're havin' summertime fun now, with the Domestic Goddess

Go outside and play with a giant doughnut pool float and goodies for the barbecue. Fire up, readers! (Oh, and a treat for the dog. Don't forget the dog.)

Here we are, officially summer. (If you have lived here for any length time at all, dear reader, you know woo-hoo time does not really begin until the Fifth of July.) But now it is, thankfully, officially woo-hoo time. Fire up those grills. Suit up for the pool/lake/sprinkler. Note: Between now and Sept. 2 all drinks must come with little umbrellas. It's the law. Goddess law.

Doughnut to go, please

Giant Inflatable Donut Pool Float. With it, you could bob about on the lake of your choice with, perhaps, a frosty beverage (remember, umbrella required). "Don't waste any more of your valuable time with those small, boring inner tubes that don't look like a delicious snack!" say marketing materials.

Extra-thick-vinyl, pink-frosted float (with sprinkles!) is 4 feet wide. Around $20. Find at www.stupid.com, www.perpetualkid.com, www.amazon.com, www.urbanoutfitters.com.

(Note: Stupid.com, best Web address ever, features "products nobody should ever spend their money on," says marketing kahuna Johnson Bailey. "But we sell a lot of it.")

The thrilla on the grilla

Proud of your grilling prowess? Then sign that meat. Sear your initials into steaks and chops with Williams Sonoma's Monogrammed Forged Steak Brand. Hand forged iron by a real, live Texas cattle rancher. "Adds a fun and unique personal touch to grilled meats," says W-S. Includes wall-mounting storage rack. $39.95, find online only at www.williams-sonoma.com.

Also, these are just like real, only nicer. BBQ Condiment Set from W-S.

Classic condiment containers as glazed-earthenware pieces featuring Summer's Big Four: ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, relish. Matching spoons, lids, carrying tray. $49.95. Check out Williams-Sonoma products locally in Seattle at Pacific Place, University Village; in Lynnwood at Alderwood mall; in Bellevue at Bellevue Square.

It's dog eat dog

No need to deprive the dog of summertime fun. Toss resident canine a frankfurter with mustard. Not an all-beef with French's, a Hot Dog Recycled Canvas Toy from Oré Pet. Recycled cotton stuffing with sturdy canvas contoured exterior and photorealistic graphics (also with required squeaky thingie). Measures 4-3/8 inches by 8 inches. About $8. Find at www.oreoriginals.com (while there do not miss Gnome Dog Toy) and www.petswag.com. Also find Oré Pet products at Bark Natural Pet Care in Ballard.
