Flower power

Seattle Times reader Kaylee Blaschke’s up-close photo of a simple daisylike flower in a park.

Photographer: Kaylee Blaschke, Sammamish

Photo taken: April 7, Beaver Lake Park

Photographer's description: “I was snapping shots around the park when I came upon this humongous field of white and yellow wildflowers. I began snapping close-ups, and saw details of the flower that I’d never seen before, making me really happy with the shot! I used my Nikon D3100 with 55-200mm lens.”

Expert says: “Great work getting in close to get the details big in the frame. I love the little colorful tips on this flower — that and the white petals make the yellow center pop. I really enjoy the texture created by the grass blurred out in the foreground, an effect of the compression from the longer lens. This slightly elongated crop adds to the feeling of being in a wildflower field.”
