Photographer's description: “The photo was taken in front of the Target on Second Avenue. The sun was shining straight down (the street) and I noticed the young woman’s face partially illuminated. I used a Canon 5D Mark II with a 28 mm lens.”

Expert says: “Being able to see light and how it illuminates certain things is what many photojournalists train their eye to. This was great seeing by the photographer to notice the woman’s face lit up. I also like the graphic of the ‘1-2-3’ that is illuminated. An argument can be made for having the bikes in the foreground or not. Getting a little closer to the subject would make her more prominent and clean up the foreground but including the bikes creates more of an urban feel.”
