Photographer's description: “I was on a field trip with a group from PAWS. On the return walk along a boardwalk extending far into the estuary was a heron attempting to get some lunch. Wow, what concentration. This magnificent bird did its work with more than 20 people watching and snapping photos!”

Expert says: “The symmetry between the bird and his reflection is perfect within the frame. Using the Rule of Thirds by having him on the right third of the picture with dead space in front of him is great. Reflections — from windows to puddles to mirrors — can add an element to a photo that steps it above others. Try training your eye to look for those reflections in your daily wanderings.”
