We asked readers to tell us about their favorite places to rent cottages and cabins:
• "My favorite place to stay is the serene, tranquil and fun Sand Dollar Inn (www.sanddollarinn.net) cottages in Pacific Beach. The cottages are located across from the most pristine beach in Washington state, have awesome views and are warm and cozy. And a big plus is pets are welcome."
— Nikki Coyote, Freeland
• "For fall and winter, there is no place more beautiful than the Lake Wenatchee area just east of Stevens Pass. I have rented several cabins from Comfy Cabins (www.comfycabins.com) and have enjoyed them very much. Always superbly outfitted. There is nothing like slipping into a steaming hot tub on a beautiful snowy night!"
— Patti Howley, Everett
• "The Logs at Canyon Creek (www.thelogs.com) consist of five log cabins on the Mount Baker Highway. They're in woods, but you can walk to wonderful views of Mount Baker or the Nooksack River. The cabins contain all the things you need (except food). No TV or phones."
— Linda Cranfill, Shoreline
• "Eden Valley Guest Ranch (www.edenvalleyranch.net) in the Okanagan Highlands has guest cabins with kitchen, full bath, bedroom and sitting room. Each has a commanding view of Eden Valley and Mount Bonaparte. Hike, snow shoe, ski, sled, ride horses, see incredible night skies full of stars. Hike out to the big meadow, await the full moon cresting the ridge and listen for the coyotes howling." — Barbara Dick, Seattle.
