Fact: Seattle is the only place on the U.S. West Coast with a dedicated curling facility. Why not expand your fitness regimen and try this popular sport at Granite Curling Club's Open House, 6-8 p.m. today, 6-10 p.m. Friday or 10-6 p.m. Saturday.
"Curling is something most people have never tried and only seen on TV. It's a fun, family wintertime sport," says Phil Draper, treasurer of the Granite Curling Club. "Most find it's quite a challenge to deliver 42 pounds of granite down 150 feet of ice."
Ice time is first-come, first-served. Wear warm, loose clothing and clean, rubber-soled sneakers. Granite Curling Club, 1440 N. 128th St., Seattle; $10 per person or $25 per family. 206-362-2446.
