LOUDON, N.H. – Brad Keselowski had some impressive performances at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It was the victory celebration that again gave him fits.
Keselowski topped all the fields Saturday — including a dominant run in his victory in the Sta-Green 200 in the Nationwide Series, which is NASCAR’s second tier. Keselowski also led the speed charts during both practices in the top-level Sprint Cup Series. Throw in the pole for the Nationwide race, and that made the Team Penske driver 4 for 4.
“One helluva Saturday,” Keselowski said.
His only hiccup came when he dropped the American flag out of his No. 22 Ford after winning.
“It wasn’t one of my prouder moments,” said Keselowski, who needed four stitches to close a wound he received during his victory-lane celebration in the Sprint Cup race at Kentucky last month. He tried to open a bottle of champagne by hitting it against a podium, and the bottle broke.
Keselowski led 153 of the 200 laps Saturday.
Kyle Busch finished second and starts on the pole for Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race.
Derrike Cope of Spanaway placed 28th of 40.
• Ryan Hunter-Reay blew past the field with two laps to go and won the IndyCar Series race at Iowa Speedway in Newton for his first victory since he took the Indianapolis 500 in May.
Josef Newgarden finished second and Tony Kanaan, who led 247 of the 300 laps, was third.
