Saturday

First race: 2 p.m.

1 61/2 furlongs, purse $12,075, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $20,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1Zoomzoomania G Mitchell5/2118
4St Nicholas Becky I Enriquez2118
3Right Idea L Mawing3118
2Grindster J Gutierrez5118
5Uptownfreddybrown E Kubinova6118
6On the Turn L Camacho-Flores10124

Zoomzoomania was a disappointing sixth in his last race as one of the favorites. He can rebound against this group. St Nicholas Becky was in the same race and finished third at 12-1. Right Idea has been working steadily for his career debut for trainer Frank Lucarelli.

2 6 furlongs, purse $10,500, 3-year-old, claiming $10,000/$8,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
5Wedgey Time J Gutierrez3118
3Moony Moony R Richard10118
7Tribal MysticL Mawing2122
1Mizzo's Gold I Enriquez8118
2Colton's First R Bowen5/2118
4Galvin Jack G Mitchell12118
6Stormin Parker D Lopez12115

Wedgey Time and Moony Moony drop in class after losing to Tribal Mystic, who will likely be heavily favored but it’s odd that he is dropping in class after winning two consecutive.

3 41/2 furlongs, purse $17,850, 2-year-old, fillies, maiden special weight
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
6Seeking the Light F Valdez6117
4Andiamo Deb J Matias4117
3Perhaps a Pie R Bowen6117
1Dance With Effie E Kubinova9/2117
2Dancingwithdebbie I Enriquez5117
5Luck Out G Mitchell7/2117
7Nicole Michelle L Mawing3117

This looks like a promising group of 2-year-olds, all making their career debuts. Seeking The Light, a $29,000 yearling purchase, is trained by Blaine Wright, who knows how to get horses ready for their career debuts. Andiamo Deb is trained by David Martinez, who does great work with 2-year-olds. Perhaps a Pie was a $42,000 yearling purchase at the Keeneland (Ky.) sale.

4 61/2 furlongs, purse $18,900, 3-year-old, fillies, AOC $25,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Find Your Spot J Gutierrez9/5119
2Timeless Pleasure R Bowen5121
1Avadiva G Mitchell7/2121
3Charismata L Mawing3117
5Lexie Arleen F Valdez5/2121

Find Your Spot, making his debut at Emerald Downs, has been in great form in California. Timeless Pleasure, a $150,000 yearling purchase, broke his maiden in his last race in his fourth start. Avadiva has been racing well at Hastings in Vancouver, B.C.

5 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
5Rezar R Richard3124
2Da Ruler R Bowen5/2124
6Sharp Focus G Mitchell9/2124
1Charming Budha J Matias8124
3Only Be Cause C Doll20124
4Mr Shane the Pain J Rosales15124
7Honour Family E Kubinova7/2124
8Royal Shrine D Lopez10124

Rezar continues the drop in class in search of a return to form. Da Ruler ran a remarkable second in his last race despite being held up at the gate (by one of the starting crew) and losing so many lengths that he was declared a non-starter. Sharp Focus shortens up in distance after finishing second at a mile.

6 6 furlongs, purse $5,700, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $3,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
6Snooper Dauper J Zunino4124
3Mo's Flashy Date D Lopez2124
1Buddy Dave J Rosales6124
2Zilver L Mawing3124
4Our Marshal Cahill L Camacho-Flores10124
5Brudda Clyde C Doll15124
7Camp Pendleton J Gutierrez8124
8Timeonurhands R Richard10124

Snooper Dauper drops in class after a rough trip when he was coming off two straight wins. Mo’s Flashy Date is in great form. Buddy Dave has won 13 times at Emerald and is dropping in class.

7 6 furlongs, purse $18,900, 3-year-old, AOC $40,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Stikine Slough R Bowen3122
2Cantcatchme L Mawing2119
5Orito E Kubinova5/2119
1Troop Ship L Camacho-Flores8119
3Oldtimers Vision I Enriquez6119
6City Shadows G Mitchell6119

Stikine Slough runs for a claiming price for the first time. Cantcatchme has a win and two seconds in three career starts. Orito is coming off a nice win and has won two of four career starts.

8 61/2 furlongs, purse $21,000, 3-year-olds and up, AOC $40,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1I Keep Saying J Gutierrez8/5119
3Winning Machine D Lopez9/2124
5Country Rules J Zunino3119
2Disruption E Kubinova7/2124
4My Chief L Zacherle4118

SCRATCHED: Dogleg Left, Somewhere With You, Rocky’s Quest.

I Keep Saying jumps up in class, but he should be able to handle it. Winning Machine moves to trainer Howard Belvoir but the horse seems on the decline after years of great success. Country Rules has a great chance to get into the trifecta.

9 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $5,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Alaazwho R Richard9/5118
8Drop Volley L Mawing5/2118
1Nacho Macho J Matias8118
3Something Magic J Zunino15124
4Freedom House J Gutierrez20118
5Miners Night F Valdez10118
6Sorry Pal R Bowen15118
7Dakota Firefly L Camacho-Flores3124

Alaazwho should win with even a bit of improvement. Drop Volley finished second in his last start in a similar race. Nacho Macho can improve with the cutback in distance.

BEST BET: Alaazwho.
