First three horses listed in each race in order of predicted finish.

Saturday

First race: 2 p.m.

1 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,100, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1Mister Messenger J Zunino5/2124
3Expenses Paid D Lopez2121
4Last Defense E Kubinova7/2115
2Play Hard to Win J Rosales8121
5Salsa Boy I Enriquez4121
6Voltar L Camacho-Flores10121

Mister Messenger could get an easy lead in a paceless race. Throw out his last start when he began very slowly and never had a chance. Expenses Paid was scratched out of a race Friday to run in this, but he is developing a habit of finishing second. Last Defense finished second in a similar race two weeks ago.

2 6 furlongs, purse $8,925, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming weight for age $12,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
3Square Jimmer J Gutierrez7/5118
5Africa Star L Camacho-Flores7/2118
1Hearts Harbor D Lopez12118
2One Cheezy Dude J Zunino6118
4Brilliant Thought R Richard8118
6Master Game G Mitchell4124

Square Jimmer returns to a sprint after finishing second at a mile. Africa Star has had a couple of nice workouts preparing for his career debut for trainer Hilbern Mullens, who does a good job year after year. Hearts Harbor runs for a claiming price for the first time.

3 6 furlongs, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $5,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1The Prime Mover D Lopez4118
6Nitro Road J Zunino2124
5Splendini I Enriquez5/2124
2Park That Truck R Richard9/2124
3Regazze Cat F Valdez20118
4Sir Riley L Camacho-Flores8118
7Akutan L Mawing8118

The Prime Mover should improve in his second start at Emerald Downs. Nitro Road drops in class and returns to a sprint. Splendini lost a similar race as the 6-5 favorite and is now in trainer Frank Lucarelli’s barn after getting claimed.

4 1 mile, purse $7,450, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $7,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Bull Whiskey R Richard7/2124
5Bound to Win E Kubinova3121
3Charlie's Gold J Matias4118
1Secret Harbor J Gutierrez9/2115
4Nosetodagrindstone G Mitchell2118
6Air Grinder D Lopez12115

Bull Whiskey ran a dud as the 7-5 favorite in a similar race. I think he will rebound in this race. Bound to Win was second in his last race when dropping down in class to this level. Charlie’s Gold races against older horses after winning as the 7-10 favorite.

5 6 furlongs, purse $10,300, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $12,500/$10,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
3Financial Officer J Whitaker7/2121
6So Legit R Bowen2121
2Mister Breeze R Richard3118
1Clemkadiddlehopper J Gutierrez10115
4Ryans Argument J Zunino5/2121
5Stormin Parker G Mitchell10115

Financial Officer, a 4-year-old, faces a field that has three 3-year-olds in it. He was third against a tough field in his last race. So Legit drops in class after finishing second as the 4-5 favorite. Mister Breeze jumps up in class after an easy win.

6 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,100, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Hope for Sara E Kubinova2117
1Sheza Silver Moon F Valdez3120
5Come On Cozzene L Mawing7/2120
3Parker's Prospect G Mitchell12114
4Midnight Maggie R Bowen12120
6Appealing Artie R Richard15123
7Parker's Pearl D Lopez6120
8Chips Indy Salsa L Gonzalez20120
9One Smart Girl J Zunino20120

Hope for Sara was scratched out of a race Friday to run in this one, and she has a substantial speed figure edge over this field. Sheza Silver Moon will likely be closer to the lead today after uncharacteristically, and unsuccessfully, dropping back early in her last race. Come On Cozzene has good early speed.

7 6 furlongs, purse $12,700, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $15,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Saddleranch I Enriquez7/5120
3Star of the Dia G Mitchell3122
1He's a Cruiser L Mawing5/2120
4Songandabullet D Lopez6120
5Spit and Shine J Zunino5114

Saddleranch should improve in his second start after a long layoff. Star of the Dia is in great form and also has a good chance to win. He’s a Cruiser steps up in class while going for his fourth straight win.

8 6 furlongs, purse $18,900, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, AOC $25,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
9Stephanie Plum L Camacho-Flores3123
4Alert in Class L Mawing9/2120
5Grab Ahold I Enriquez7/2120
1Ms. Sutherland J Zunino12123
2Whiskey Miner D Lopez12120
3Hetty R Bowen6120
6River of Aces E Kubinova6123
7Beautranda F Valdez12120
8Da Burn R Richard8114

Stephanie Plum is in great form and her typical race should give her a good chance to win. Alert in Class will try to atone for losing as the 7-5 favorite in a similar race. She will need to avoid going too fast early in the race. Grab Ahold will be rallying late.

9 1 mile, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $5,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
8Bluegrass Fox Trot L Mawing8/5118
3No Claim Will Do R Bowen3118
2Its Guiness Time R Richard7/2118
1Stoneman D Lopez12118
4Everydayimhustlin J Whitaker6124
5Plan A J Zunino20118
6Nacho Macho J Matias12118
7Onetimeforolmark L Camacho-Flores20118

Bluegrass Fox Trot and No Claim Will Do are both plunging in class. It’s Guiness Time has been in the money in three of six starts and also drops to a career-low claiming level.

BEST BET: Hope for Sara.
