First three horses listed in each race in order of predicted finish.
First race: 2 p.m.
|1 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $5,000|
|4||Duke Street King||I Enriquez||8/5||124|
|3||Some Storm Cat||D Lopez||5/2||118|
|1||The Stolen Way||L Gonzalez||15||124|
|5||Drop Volley||F Valdez||3||118|
|6||Cowboy Cocktail||R Bowen||10||124|
Duke Street King is still looking for his first win in his 11th race, but he has a speed-figure advantage in this weak field. Some Storm Cat has two seconds and five thirds in nine career starts. Stoneman takes a big drop in class.
|2 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,300, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $2,500|
|6||Miss Fast Eddie||R Bowen||9/5||117|
|1||Brats Brat||L Camacho-Flores||5/2||120|
|2||Sixteen Reasons||L Mawing||6||123|
|3||Goin Out Tonite||R Richard||6||120|
|4||Special Buttons||C Doll||10||120|
Miss Fast Eddie never got going after a bad start in her last race. She takes a drop in claiming price, and the 3-year-old should rebound despite facing older horses. Brat’s Brat usually tries hard and should be close at the end. Penngrove should improve in her second start at Emerald.
|3 6 furlongs, purse $17,850, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, maiden special weight|
|1||Quiet Wisdom||R Bowen||3||117|
|4||Red Ran Back||G Mitchell||2||117|
|5||Sanibel Harbor||I Enriquez||7/2||117|
|2||Matty McGoon||L Mawing||9/2||117|
SCRATCHED: River Call.
This is a good race with several having a chance to win. I like how Quiet Wisdom re-rallied for third in her last race after losing ground. Maybe she can beat Red Ran Back, who finished ahead of her in that race. Sanibel Harbor finished right behind the top pick in her last start and was favored over the top two picks in that race.
|4 6 furlongs, purse $5,900, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $4,000|
|1||Athina Lee||D Lopez||8/5||123|
|3||Cool Toddy||I Enriquez||2||123|
|4||Miss Fun Run||L Camacho-Flores||12||123|
|5||Parkers Gibsongirl||L Gonzalez||10||123|
|6||Valid Vixen Queen||L Mawing||5||123|
Athina Lee won a similar race two weeks ago and has a great chance to win again. Cool Toddy ran a clunker as the favorite in her first start at Emerald Downs, but she should improve. Chromatose has finished third 10 times in 19 career starts, which is rather remarkable.
|5 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500|
|1||Kinzie's King||L Mawing||3||124|
|6||Da Ruler||R Bowen||7/5||124|
|2||Power Fleet||E Kubinova||5/2||124|
|3||White River Pirate||J Rosales||12||124|
|4||He's a Goblin||D Lopez||8||124|
|5||Who's Laughing||R Richard||12||124|
SCRATCHED: Stroll for Us.
Kinzie’s King was doomed after a poor start in his last race. He can win with a good start. Da Ruler gets a shorter distance after fading as the favorite at a mile. Power Fleet was third two weeks ago in his first start since August.
|6 61/2 furlongs, purse $9,350, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $7,500|
|2||Bleu Tarp||I Enriquez||3||120|
|6||Storming Kentucky||L Mawing||5/2||124|
|1||Buds a Flyin||L Camacho-Flores||4||120|
|3||Doctor Bruce S.||J Zunino||12||120|
|4||Heza Witch Doctor||J Whitaker||15||120|
|5||Won Won Oh Five||F Valdez||7/2||120|
|7||Southfork Pegasus||R Bowen||10||120|
|8||Credit Line||J Gutierrez||8||120|
SCRATCHED: Chu and I, Hip Hop City.
Bleu Tarp was not out of the money in eight starts at Emerald last year. The 8-year-old broke that streak with a clunker in his 2014 debut three weeks ago, but think he can rebound in a big way. Storming Kentucky had a tough trip in his last start, but has been in great form. Buds a Flyin has won 11 of 28 starts at Emerald and was dominant two weeks ago, but this is a much tougher group.
|7 6 furlongs, purse $14,800, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $20,000/$18,000|
|3||Edge Forward||I Enriquez||7/2||120|
|5||Memphis Beach||L Mawing||2||120|
|2||King of the Sky||R Bowen||5||119|
|4||Southern Solution||J Matias||10||117|
|6||Dare Me Devil||D Lopez||3||120|
Edge Forward finally won in his last start after seemingly allergic to victory. Maybe he can now go on a winning streak. Assessment is in good form at age 10. Memphis Beach is coming off an impressive win but will face more pace pressure in this race.
|8 6 furlongs, purse $18,900, 3-year-old, AOC $25,000|
|6||Smart Copy||L Mawing||5/2||119|
|1||Kenai King||G Mitchell||7/2||119|
|5||He's Zuberrific||D Lopez||5||122|
|2||Can't Get Enough||I Enriquez||6||119|
|3||City Shadows||E Kubinova||5||119|
|4||Troop Ship||L Camacho-Flores||10||122|
Smart Copy is an improving horse. Kenai King can improve after finishing fourth as the favorite. He’s Zuberiffic beat the top two picks in his last race and is in great form for trainer Terry Gillihan, who is off to another solid year.
|9 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,700, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $3,500|
|5||Have'n a Wild Time||G Mitchell||7/2||123|
|4||Seattle Game||R Bowen||2||123|
|6||Opening Buzz||F Valdez||5||123|
|1||Virginia Way||P Fernandez||15||123|
|2||Our Pretty Woman||L Mawing||5/2||123|
|3||Foolish Miss||J Zunino||9/2||123|
Have’n a Wild Time can run down the early leaders in a race where there will be a lot of competition for the early lead. Seattle Game, who has won 13 times at Emerald, showed she can win from off the pace two races ago. Opening Buzz will be rallying late.
BEST BET: Kinzie’s King.
