First three horses listed in each race in order of predicted finish.

Saturday

First race: 2 p.m.

1 3 furlongs, purse $3,600, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $3,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Rf Pistol Pete T Skaggs2125
2Midway Monster C Doll6123
1Cloudy Dasher L Gonzalez6123
3One Hot Cop P Fernandez4125
5Mr Speedygonzalez J Zunino9/2125
6Mr Easy Okie L Camacho-Flores7/2125

Rf Pistol Pete loves it at Emerald Downs and looks very tough if the track is not sloppy. Midway Monster is in good form. Cloudy Dancer runs at a career-low level.

2 6 furlongs, purse $5,300, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Opening Buzz F Valdez2119
1Kiss Em R Richard10119
3Brats Brat L Camacho-Flores7/2119
2Special Buttons J Gutierrez4119
5Valid Vixen Queen I Enriquez5/2123
6Goin Out Tonite J Rosales10119

Opening Buzz gets an extra half-furlong after two decent efforts at 5½ furlongs, and the extra distance should help her. Kiss Em didn’t break well after being well-bet when dropping in class to this level in her last race. She could rebound. Brats Brat finished right behind the top pick in her last race.

3 6 furlongs, purse $7,200, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $5,000/$4,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
3Rezar R Richard3120
6Buds a Flyin L Camacho-Flores4120
2Buddy Dave J Rosales7/2120
1Our Eagle Boy A Sanguinetti10120
4Jade Road J Gutierrez5/2120
5Givajunior Mint D Lopez5120

Rezar finished third when taking a significant class drop to this level in his last race. A better post in this race should help. Buds a Flying (10 wins in 27 starts) and Buddy Dave (13 of 43) have had great success at Emerald.

4 1 mile, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1Da Ruler A Sanguinetti9/5124
2Showmethemoneyjim R Richard5/2124
5Sharp Focus R Bowen9/2124
3White River Pirate L Camacho-Flores12124
4Jo B With Thee J Whitaker12119
6Priceless Keith J Zunino8124
7Only Be Cause L Gonzalez15124
8Mr Shane the Pain J Rosales10124

Da Ruler just won a similar race and was scratched out of a race Friday to run in this. Showmethemoneyjim lost by a nose in his last race and has had success at the one-mile distance. Sharp Focus showed little in two shorter races at this meet, but had a nice victory at a mile in his last race of 2013.

5 51/2 furlongs, purse $9,975, 3-year-old, maiden claiming $15,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
5Troop Ship L Camacho-Flores4122
3Inviting Roman I Enriquez5122
1Sthenios F Valdez9/5122
2Brilliant Thought G Mitchell12122
4Grindster J Gutierrez6122
6Stoneman E Kubinova10122
7Nosetodagrindstone R Bowen6122
8Sociable Gold L Mawing8122

Troop Ship took a step forward in his first race as a 3-year-old, finishing second after a poor start to the race. Inviting Roman takes a big class drop from maiden allowance competition for trainer Frank Lucarelli, who has had a great first month. Sthenios ran a solid third against state-bred maidens in his debut last month.

6 6 furlongs, purse $14,375, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $25,000/$22,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
5So Legit R Bowen2121
4Orito E Kubinova5/2112
3Dogleg Left L Mawing9/2124
1Freedomofthehills J Gutierrez3115
2Bound to Win R Richard5118

So Legit faced a very tough group two weeks ago. This is a much softer field and he should be much better. Orito, a 3-year-old, ran a nice race in his yearly debut, finshing third despite a wide trip. Dogleg Left was third in a similar race in his last start.

7 6 furlongs, purse $14,800, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $20,000/$18,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Assessment G Mitchell5/2120
2Southern Solution J Matias9/2120
5Dare Me Devil R Richard2120
1Memphis Beach L Mawing7/2117
3Kenzie Carolina D Lopez4115

Assessment, winner of the 2009 Longacres Mile, got his first win since 2010 in his last start. Maybe he can go on a winning streak. Southern Solution has won five of nine career starts. Dare Me Devil returns off a layoff, but he is a good fit against this group.

8 6 furlongs, purse $18,900, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, AOC $25,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
6Stephanie Plum L Camacho-Flores6123
4Tabled With Gold G Mitchell9/2119
8Alert in Class L Mawing9/5119
1Holy Dazzle R Bowen12119
2River of Aces E Kubinova3123
3Grab Ahold I Enriquez12119
5Havasu Falls J Gutierrez12119
7Beautranda F Valdez6119

Stephanie Plum just won a similar race, and she runs hard almost every time. Tabled With Gold was a head behind the top pick in her last race. Alert In Class, a $230,000 yearling purchase in 2012, is a strong threat to win if her recent form on the synthetic surface at Golden Gate in Northern California carries over to the real dirt at Emerald.

9 6 furlongs, purse $5,700, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $3,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Vegas Burn R Bowen5/2121
2Brudda Clyde I Enriquez2121
5Big Fat Storm D Lopez4124
1Marvin's Magic L Zacherle12121
3Our Marshal Cahill L Camacho-Flores9/2121
6Fine and Rare A Sanguinetti5121

SCRATCHED: Corner Office.

Vegas Burn is 3 for 3 at Emerald this season. He jumps up in class, but he is still the horse to beat. Brudda Clyde also jumps up in class after a nice win. Big Fat Storm has finished first or second in eight of nine starts at Emerald.

BEST BET: Da Ruler.
