First three horses listed in each race in order of predicted finish.

First race: 2 p.m.

1 6 furlongs, purse $8,925, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming weight for age $12,500/$10,000
4Bull Whiskey R Richard3124
3Square Jimmer E Kubinova5/2118
5Its Guiness Time J Gutierrez2118
1Nitro Road J Zunino7/2122
2Troop Ship L Camacho-Flores6118

Bull Whiskey runs for a claiming price for the first time after finishing second and third in maiden allowance races in Portland. Square Jimmer was claimed for $12,500 three races ago at Golden Gate in Northern California and fits well against this group. Its Guiness Time has little early speed, which is an issue, but he can rally late to get into the trifecta.

2 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, maiden claiming $5,000
1Nobluffjustgo R Bowen5/2123
6Angel of Harlan L Mawing2123
3Hope for Sara E Kubinova3117
2Aliciasfirecracker R Richard4123
4Step and One Half F Valdez15123
5Niftys Tee Time R Camacho8123

Nobluffjustgo was fifth as the 2-1 favorite in a similar race two weeks ago and think he will rebound. Angel of Harlan beat the top pick in his last race, losing by just a head, and it was 3½ lengths back to the third-place horse. Hope for Sara was fourth in that race.

3 6 furlongs, purse $5,900, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $4,000
1Jade Road J Gutierrez3121
6Epic Electorate L Mawing5/2121
4Doctor Bruce S. J Zunino7/2121
2Foolish Chopper F Valdez6121
3Barton Hill A Sanguinetti4121
5Priceless Keith E Kubinova9/2124

Jade Road takes a big drop in class after being well beaten two weeks ago, but should do much better against this group. Epic Electorate makes his Emerald debut after losing by a head in his last race, at Golden Gate. Dr. Bruce S. was ready last year in his first race after a winter break, and this is his first race this year after a long break.

4 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, WCL $2,500
9Wedge of Gold G Mitchell7/2123
7Pete's Glory Girl E Kubinova10123
2Seattle Game R Bowen2123
1Bartab J Matias12123
3Snuffin L Camacho-Flores12123
4Celestial Council F Valdez8123
5Premo Jewel R Richard12123
6Sydney On My Mind J Rosales15123
8She'sontopyodeling J Gutierrez12123
10Ms Eagle Eye I Enriquez6123

Wedge of Gold rarely runs a bad race and should be right there at the end if she’s ready in her first race since August. Pete’s Glory Girl crossed the finish first in her yearly debut last year and is making her 2014 debut. Seattle Game has won 13 times at Emerald and is always a threat to lead from gate to wire.

5 51/2 furlongs, purse $17,850, 3-year-olds and up, maiden special weight
8Trick Or Retreat L Mawing7/2118
7Mebossman I Enriquez5/2118
4Royal Tale R Richard3118
1No Claim Will Do J Gutierrez10118
2Kamaaina Blue R Bowen6118
3Ancient Mystery E Kubinova10118
5Calculated Chaos A Sanguinetti12124
6St Nicholas Becky G Mitchell15118
9Brilliant Thought F Valdez10118

Trick Or Retreat started very slowly in his last race, which spoiled his chances, but he can rebound today. Mebossman was in the money in three stakes races last year, including a second-place finish in the Gottstein Futurity, the top race at Emerald for 2-year-olds. Royal Tale finished ahead of the top pick in his last race.

6 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500
3Kinzie's King L Mawing4124
5One Lucky Hoss P Fernandez7/2124
1Boundtogetbusy E Kubinova3124
2Our Marshal Cahill L Camacho-Flores10124
4Stroll for Us I Enriquez2124
6Harbor Wind J Whitaker10124
7Wild Hoss J Zunino12124

Kinzie’s King has been first or second in eight of 14 starts at Emerald and has performed well coming off layoffs in the past. One Lucky Hoss was second two weeks ago at 11-1 and has been first or second in 11 of 26 starts at Emerald. Boundtogetbusy was a place behind the second pick in his last race after being bet down to 5-2.

7 51/2 furlongs, purse $14,375, 3-year-old, fillies, claiming $25,000/$22,500
5Knight Club I Enriquez3118
4See My Tail Lites E Kubinova2118
1Polly Ester Pompom L Mawing5/2118
2K K's Wonderwoman J Gutierrez7/2118
3Zafari Nation F Valdez8118

Knight Club has worked out well for her 3-year-old debut and scratched out of a race Saturday to run in this one. See My Tail Lites could improve with the drop in class. Polly Ester Pompom isn’t without hope.

8 6 furlongs, purse $12,700, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $15,000
1King of the Sky R Bowen5/2122
2Edge Forward I Enriquez3120
4Assessment G Mitchell6120
3Southern Solution J Matias4120
5Financial Officer J Whitaker12120
6Credit Line E Kubinova6120
7Rainier Ice L Mawing9/2120

King of the Sky has been in good form at Turf Paradise in Phoenix. Edge Forward is usually close but he hasn’t won in a couple of years. The sentimental pick is Assessment, the 10-year who won the 2009 Longacres Mile and has won more than a half-million dollars.

9 6 furlongs, purse $17,950, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $32,000/$25,000
3River of Aces E Kubinova5/2119
5Stephanie Plum L Camacho-Flores9/2115
4Perfect Pie J Whitaker10115
1Lasting Rose A Sanguinetti8115
2Tabled With Gold G Mitchell5115
6Miss Communication R Bowen4119
7Smokin' Grey L Mawing3119

River of Aces has a great chance to do what she did two weeks ago, lead from gate to wire. Stephanie Plum finished a half-length behind the top pick in that race. Perfect Pie is better then her last race indicates.

10 51/2 furlongs, purse $6,725, 3-year-old, maiden claiming $7,500
7Major Incident R Richard10122
3Sunshine in Rio I Enriquez2122
4Spit and Shine J Zunino5/2122
1Little Abe J Rosales4122
2Freedom House J Gutierrez6122
5Miners Night R Bowen8122
6Drop Volley F Valdez8122

Major Incident lost all chance at the break in his last race, and you can throw that race out. He could surprise. Sunshine in Rio was third in that race as the 6-5 favorite, nearly 4 lengths behind Spit and Shine, who was 20-1.
