First three horses listed in each race in order of predicted finish.

Saturday

First race: 2 p.m.

1 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $5,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
3Medicinegoin'down L Mawing9/5118
5Some Storm Cat J Zunino3118
6Mojave Mandate L Camacho-Flores5/2124
1Nacho Macho J Matias6118
2Plan A R Richard12118
4The Stolen Way P Fernandez8124

Medicinegoin’down was a well-beaten second in his Emerald debut two weeks ago, but he meets a weak field and should get his first win. Some Storm Cat finished right behind the top pick in his last race. Mojave Mandate hasn’t raced since September and is making his first Emerald start, but fits well against this group.

2 11/16 miles, purse $5,900, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Da Ruler A Sanguinetti7/5124
5Run Atom J Whitaker9/2124
3Doctor Pav L Camacho-Flores3124
1White River Pirate J Rosales10124
4Cane Seeker L Mawing2124

SCRATCHED: Foolish Chopper.

Da Ruler plunges in class for red-hot trainer Jeff Metz (10 wins and five seconds in 21 starts), but the longer distance is a definite concern. Run Atom has a good chance if Da Ruler can’t handle the distance as there isn’t a lot of early speed for him to contend with. Doctor Pav can rally late to get into the trifecta.

3 6 furlongs, purse $14,375, 3-year-old, claiming $25,000/$22,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1He's Zuberrific L Mawing5/2119
3Joel N Jill J Matias5116
2Freedomofthehills J Gutierrez3119
4Mizzo's Gold I Enriquez4116
5Orito E Kubinova2119

He’s Zuberrific got stuck three-wide in a three-way duel for the early lead two weeks ago and finished second. Joel N Jill has been working out well for his 3-year-old debut. Freedomofthehills was a neck behind the top pick in a race two weeks ago.

4 6 furlongs, purse $5,100, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $2,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
6Supreme Ballerina R Bowen5/2120
7Midnight Maggie A Sanguinetti6120
1House of Hope J Gutierrez4120
2Come On Cozzene G Mitchell9/2120
3Parker's Pearl I Enriquez6120
4American Council E Kubinova5120
5One Smart Girl R Richard15120
8Chips Indy Salsa P Fernandez8120

Supreme Ballerina didn’t have an excuse for finishing second as the 1-2 favorite two weeks ago, but she deserves another chance in a weak field. Midnight Maggie has been racing at Los Alamitos in Southern California, but she has finished in the money in five of nine starts at Emerald. House of Hope did little in three starts this winter at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, but she finished in the money in half of her 10 starts at Emerald.

5 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,700, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $3,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
1War Wizard L Camacho-Flores3124
2Marvin's Magic J Zunino8124
8He's All Heart I Enriquez9/2124
3Corner Office E Kubinova4124
4Always the Same R Bowen7/2124
5Bid for Pride J Rosales6124
6Advancement J Whitaker15124
7Fine and Rare A Sanguinetti8124

War Wizard didn’t break well in his start two weeks ago, and now drops in class. He has a great chance with a better beginning. Marvin’s Magic ran a dud two weeks ago as the even-money favorite, but he is better than that effort suggests. He’s All Heart would’ve destroyed this field in his younger days, and is still a threat to win this at age 8.

6 6 furlongs, purse $10,500, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $10,000/$8,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
8Memphis Mobster L Camacho-Flores5/2120
3Whistle Cat I Enriquez7/2124
1Storming Kentucky R Bowen3117
2Leadership J Matias8120
4Regal Valid J Gutierrez8120
5Ontheshadyside L Mawing12120
6Our Eagle Boy A Sanguinetti10117
7Neil Healy J Rosales10119

SCRATCHED: Southfork Pegasus.

With a lot of early speed in the race, this could set up well for a horse that can pass others in the stretch like Memphis Mobster. Whistle Cat beat the top pick in his last race, but he’ll have to contend with Storming Kentucky in the battle for the early lead.

7 51/2 furlongs, purse $16,800, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $40,000/$32,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Hetty E Kubinova5/2120
1Grab Ahold I Enriquez3120
5Liberty Lake L Mawing4117
3Music and Me R Bowen7/2120
4Ms. Sutherland J Zunino8120
6Belladiva R Richard9/2114

SCRATCHED: Knight Club.

Hetty has had some great workouts in preparation for her 3-year-old debut. Grab Ahold showed ability in two starts as a 2-year-old. Liberty Lake has been in the money in nine of 13 starts at Emerald, but hasn’t won here.

8 6 furlongs, purse $17,950, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $32,000/$25,000
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
4Polish Dollar F Valdez6/5120
6Why Not Be Perfect A Sanguinetti7/2120
5Mike Man's Gold J Matias10120
1Fist Full of Green E Kubinova9/2120
2I Keep Saying J Gutierrez4120
3Somewhere With You J Rosales15120

SCRATCHED: King of the Sky.

Polish Dollar has won 13 times at Emerald, and runs well coming off layoffs. Why Not Be Perfect has the most class in the field, but it seems like his best surface is grass. Mike Man’s Gold was a stakes winner here the past two years.

9 51/2 furlongs, purse $6,725, 3-year-old, fillies, maiden claiming $7,500
PPHorseJockeyLineWt.
2Musical Delight L Gonzalez8121
1Mini Candy R Bowen5/2121
5Cherokee Chelsea J Gutierrez3121
3Dawnofchesterhouse L Camacho-Flores12121
4Wemissstacy F Valdez15121
6Crush On You E Kubinova7/2121
7Make Some Noise R Richard4121
8Parker's Honey I Enriquez15121

SCRATCHED: Lita’s Kat.

Musical Delight makes her career debut for veteran trainer Hilbern Mullens, who knows how to get a horse ready for its first start, and she wouldn’t have to be great to win against this field. Mini Candy was showing improvement at Turf Paradise in Phoenix. Cherokee Chelsea was third in a similar race two weeks ago.

BEST BET: Hetty.
