Saturday’s racing handicaps | Emerald Downs
Seattle Times handicapper
First three horses listed in each race in order of predicted finish.
First race: 2 p.m.
Snowbound Superchick won a similar race here last month and has a great chance to win again. Sensor had a tough trip and was no factor in the race the top pick won. Rf Pistol Pete has been in the money in each of his two starts at Emerald.
This is the 99th career race for Sun City, who will likely be heavily favored to win her 20th race. Fly Away doesn’t look bad if you throw out the last race. Smokin Badge has been third in two of her three starts at Emerald.
SCRATCHED: She’s Teed Off.
Gold Trick debuts for veteran trainer Hilbern Mullens, who knows how to get young horses ready and the leading rider, Juan Gutierrez, is aboard. Suddenly Adele was third at this level in her debut. Seattle Harbor has had a couple of nice workouts in preparation for her debut.
Duchess Debbie is the only horse in the field who has raced before and she could take a big step forward in the drop in class from maiden allowance company. Chu and You has the leading rider aboard. English Kitty has been working out pretty well.
SCRATCHED: St Nicholas Becky.
Joel N Jill makes his debut for trainer David Martinez, who has had great success the past two years with debuting 2-year-olds. Del Rio Harbor is one of two in the field who have raced before and he could take a step forward. Hearts Harbor had a fast workout July 6.
Get Well gets a good post position to save ground and will be rallying late. Plum Naked has a chance to lead gate to wire but has failed as the heavy favorite in her past two races. Little by Little has the outside post and could get forced wide around the first turn.
Despite her lack of early speed, All The Rage looks very tough against this field. Pete’s Glory Girl will also be rallying. Stolen Forum will try to lead gate to wire.
Lonly and Free has never been out of the money in 10 tries at this distance on the dirt (four wins, four seconds and a third). Jacobita is in good form and should get a nice stalking position from the No. 2 post. Zippin E scratched out a race Friday to run in this one.
Uzziah has run two good races at Emerald and he might like the added distance, but he will have to deal again with Max Cooper, who has won two straight races. M Two Forty finished right behind the top pick in his last race.
SCRATCHED: Twist My Kazoo.
UntilIfindyou drops to a career-low level as does Immigration. Our Marshal Cahill has good early speed.
BEST BET: Sun City.
