Mike Man's Gold remained perfect, winning Saturday's $50,000 Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association Lads stakes at Emerald Downs.

Mike Man's Gold, a 2-year-old colt, improved to 3 for 3 by beating 19-1 outsider Music of My Soul by a head. Another head back was the 6-5 favorite, Finallygotabentley.

It was the second straight stakes win for Mike Man's Gold, the second choice at 9-5. He paid $5.60 to win and ran 6 ½ furlongs in 1 minutes, 16.72 seconds.

"I knew we won at the wire, but it was close," said Mike Man's Gold jockey Javier Matias. "This horse should get better the longer the race. He's a pretty smart horse."
