Two local hockey players were selected Saturday on the second day of the NHL draft in Pittsburgh.

Defenseman Nick Walters, 18, became the second Everett Silvertips player selected in this year's draft — along with No. 2 overall pick Ryan Murray — when the St. Louis Blues picked him in the fourth round, 116th overall.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from St. Albert, Alberta, had six goals, 12 assists and 95 penalty minutes in 62 games last season for Everett.

Seattle Thunderbirds right wing Branden Troock was selected by the Dallas Stars in the fifth round, 134th overall.

The 6-2, 194-pound native of Edmonton played in 58 games last season for the T-birds and had 14 goals and 12 assists.

Note

• University of Washington golfer Cheng-Tsung Pan fired a 1-under 68 in the final round of the Northeast Amateur Invitational in Rumford, R.I., to finish tied for 23rd at 2-over 278.
