EUGENE, Ore. — The Washington State men's golf team finished the Duck Invitational in 11th place on Tuesday.
The Cougars finished at 38-over 902. Host Oregon, ranked 17th in the country, took home the team title with a 17-under 847.
Cougar Hank Frame shot a 2-over-74 and finished tied for 19th at 4-over 220.
Gonzaga was 12th at 40-over 904.
• Western Washington had three players place among the top seven in medalist play as the Vikings finished second at 15-under 849 at the Grand Canyon University Thunderbird Spring Invitational in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Western's Nick Varelia tied for third at 209.
• The Seattle University women took 13th in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic with a 99-over 963 The Bay Course at Kapalua, Maui. Caitlin McCleary tied for 32nd at 17-over 233.
The Eastern Washington men's team was on the brink of an inspiring upset against Big Sky perennial power, Sacramento State. But the Hornets earned a 4-3 victory at the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center in Sacramento, Calif.
Eastern (9-7, 3-1 Big Sky) also dropped a 4-3 decision to Sacramento State last year in the showdown in Cheney.
The Hornets have won 23 consecutive conference matches.
