Jarred Bossio leads State Amateur by 4 strokes / NW Briefs

Olympia golfer Jarred Bossio shot a 5-under-par 67 on Wednesday to open a four-stroke lead through 54 holes in the Washington State Men's Amateur at McCormick Woods Golf Course.

PORT ORCHARD — Olympia golfer Jarred Bossio shot a 5-under-par 67 on Wednesday to open a four-stroke lead through 54 holes in the Washington State Men's Amateur at McCormick Woods Golf Course.

The University of Idaho golfer has a 54-hole total of 7-under 209. Dylan Goodwin of Mukilteo and Andrew Perez of Olympia are tied for second at 213. The final round is Thursday.

Other golf

• Silverdale's Erynne Lee shot a 2-under 70 at The Home Course in DuPont for a 36-hole total of 6-under 138 and a three-stroke lead in the Washington State Women's Amateur. Her sister, Katie, is second.

• Lacey's Yasue Alkins leads Fircrest's Ginny Burkey by three strokes in the Senior Women's Amateur at The Home Course. Alkins is at 4-over 148 through 36 holes.

Cory McElyea, who will be a sophomore at the University of Washington this fall, defeated Ryan Thomas 2 and 1 to reach the round of 16 at the California State Amateur at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. McElyea holed a 20-foot putt on 18.

• The Pacific Northwest Football Officials Association is seeking new officials to work high-school games for the 2011 season.
