Roddick now 12-0 in clinchers for U.S.: Andy Roddick showed why he's the go-to guy when the United States needs to close out a Davis Cup tie.

He defeated Paul Capdeville 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, 6-3 Sunday, giving the United States an insurmountable 3-1 lead in its 4-1 victory over host Chile in the first-round Davis Cup World Group series.

Roddick improved 12-0 in matches that can clinch a Davis Cup matchup for the U.S.

"It's always sweet, and every time you clinch one you think it's the sweetest," Roddick said.

The victory was the first for new U.S. Davis Cup captain Jim Courier, who played on the 1992 and 1995 winning Davis Cup squads.

The Americans advanced to the quarterfinals and will play at home in July against Rafael Nadal and Spain, 4-1 winners over Belgium this weekend. Roddick's hometown of Austin, Texas, is being considered as the host, along with San Antonio and Albany, N.Y.

In the other first-round World Group series Sunday, defending champion Serbia handled India 4-1; Argentina closed out a 4-1 victory over Romania; Russia salvaged two matches in a 3-2 defeat to Sweden; Germany beat Croatia 3-2; France ousted Austria 3-2; and Kazakhstan posted a 3-2 upset of the Czech Republic.

World-record serve: The International Tennis Federation confirmed that Ivo Karlovic of Croatia broke the world record for the fastest serve.

He struck a 156 mph serve in the fourth set of a doubles match against Germany in the Davis Cup on Saturday, breaking Roddick's previous record of 155 mph.

Dokic ends title drought: Australia's Jelena Dokic beat Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic 2-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 in the Malaysian Open to earn her sixth career WTA singles title after a nine-year drought.

Third title for Vonn in three days: Lindsey Vonn won a Super-G in Tarvisio, Italy, to wrap up a memorable weekend of racing. She took the super-combined and downhill titles the previous two days and has moved within 96 points of German rival and good friend Maria Riesch in the overall standings with six races remaining this season.

Vonn clocked 1 minute, 21.75 seconds down the sun-drenched Prampero course. Fellow American Julia Mancuso was second, 0.23 behind, and Riesch was third, 0.50 back.

In a banner day for the Americans, World Cup rookie Laurenne Ross was fourth, 0.70 behind, for her career-best result.

It was the eighth win for Vonn this season and the 41st of her World Cup career, moving her within one win of fourth on the all-time list along with Sweden's Anja Paerson.

Boxing

Klitschko, Haye to fight: IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBA holder David Haye have finally agreed to fight, setting up an eagerly anticipated heavyweight title bout for this summer.

The fight should take place on June 25 or July 2 at a venue in Germany.

Haye pulled out of a fight with Klitschko in 2009 with a back injury and talks between the two camps have collapsed several times since.

"Klitschko is really made for me. I eat tall, chinny Eastern European heavyweights for breakfast," said Haye, who won the WBA belt by defeating Russian giant Nikolay Valuev in November 2009 and since then has successfully defended his title twice.

The announcement came a day after Klitschko pulled out of a planned title defense against British challenger Derek Chisora on April 30 because the Ukrainian said he hadn't recovered from a torn abdominal muscle.

United stumbles again: English Premier League leader Manchester United stumbled to a second straight defeat by losing 3-1 at fierce rival Liverpool, and fifth-place Tottenham conceded a late goal to draw 3-3 at Wolverhampton.

United, whose defense looked creaky without center backs Nemanja Vidic (suspended) and Rio Ferdinand (injured), has lost three of its last five matches to keep the title race wide open.

Adu scores: Freddy Adu scored his first goal for Rizespor in the Turkish second division, connecting in the 32nd minute for a 1-0 victory over Gaziantep in Instanbul.

The 21-year-old American joined the club at the end of the January transfer window.

Indoor triple-jump record set: Teddy Tamgho broke his own indoor triple jump world record, leaping 58 feet, 9 ½ inches at the European indoor championships in Paris. The 21-year-old Frenchman had set his previous mark of 58-9 ¼ at the French indoor championships last month.
