Seattle rower Lindsay Meyer third in world

The 21-year-old from Stanford took the bronze medal in the women's single scull at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Belarus.

BREST, Belarus — Lindsay Meyer of Seattle overcame a slow start to win bronze in the women's single scull final on Sunday at the World Rowing U23 Championships.

Meyer, a 21-year-old Stanford rower who attended Holy Names Academy in Seattle, trailed the field before finishing strong.

She placed behind gold medalist Donata Vistartaite of Lithuania and silver medalist Kaisa Pajusalu of Estonia.

"Everything is awesome," Meyer said. "We had amazing competitors here."

Meyer finished fourth in quad sculls at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She got her start rowing for Lake Union Crew under Conal Groom.
