Washington will play Georgetown in the Wooden Classic

Huskies meet traditional Big East power Dec. 12 in Anaheim, Calif.

Washington will play Georgetown in men's basketball for the first time, meeting the Hoyas on Dec. 12 in the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif.

The game will be the first of a doubleheader that also features UCLA against Mississippi State.

The Huskies will play 12 nonconference games, including at Texas Tech and home against Texas A&M.

Washington last played in the Wooden Classic in 2005 when it beat New Mexico State in Brandon Roy's senior season.

Georgetown has three starters back from last season's team that began highly ranked before struggling and ending up in the postseason NIT.

No theft charges

against Cougars

Whitman County prosecutors said they will not pursue criminal charges against Washington State defensive backs LeAndre Daniels and Tyree Toomer, who were arrested June 9 on suspicion of bicycle theft near a residence hall.

Prosecutors said three of the four bicycles involved apparently were abandoned. A fourth bike, reported stolen a week prior, was found in nearby bushes by the men, and prosecutors said they concluded a theft conviction was unlikely. Daniels and Toomer were suspended from team activities but have been reinstated.

Erynne Lee of Silverdale beat Veronica Valerio of Temecula, Calif. 5 and 4 and Mukilteo's Seo Hee Moon lost 5 and 3 in the USGA-U.S. Girls Junior Amateur Championship in Bedminster, N.J.

Times reporters Bob Condotta and Bud Withers contributed to this report.
