South Lake Union Park should remain in sunlight

Amazon.com, Vulcan and the city have done a wonderful tribute to the city of Seattle in developing the South Lake Union area and making a huge improvement for tourists exiting from Interstate 5 on Mercer, taking the Monorail and viewing from the Space Needle.

However, I have great concern about some of the proposed buildings along Mercer Street casting a shadow over South Lake Union Park and the new MOHAI in the winter when the sun is so far south [“Three City Council members want shorter Vulcan towers,” seattletimes.com, Feb. 14].

I live in the SLU area and walk to SLU Park and enjoy watching the many people who soak in the sun there. Is this in jeopardy?
