Demonstrating while armed is too violent

I believe that all people have the right to rally and lobby for what they believe in, however, the approach that gun-rights supporters took in Olympia was wrong and dangerous [“Gun-rights supporters turn out in Olympia,” NWSaturday, Feb. 9].

Their message appears too violent when they protest outside of the Capitol with rifles and other firearms.

Also, the things these supporters were protesting, such as impeaching Obama, are on a national level, therefore they should be protesting in Washington, D.C., not Olympia.

I believe gun-rights supporters should advocate for their rights in a more safe and proactive way. They could achieve this by meeting with Washington lawmakers, writing petitions or protesting without firearms present.
