Pope's resignation may modernize Catholic Church
Pope Benedict XVI will be missed
Some suggest that Pope Benedict XVI was an anachronism in our times and what we need is a modern pope who fits our needs and wants [“Church has the opportunity to transform,” Northwest Voices, Feb. 14].
I would counter that with we are a self-centered people who want what we want, when we want it and we want it now. If we have our way, we will “cherry pick” our beliefs to suit these wants.
Pope Benedict XVI was courageous and remained with God’s truth in all spiritual matters. He refused to be swayed by any arguments to the contrary.
We will miss him. I pray his replacement will be as holy and as dedicated.
