Civilian casualties do not deserve commendation

Tell me it isn’t so, please. Drones have killed civilians without any legal due process, therefore, the soldiers who committed these killings should not be given any respect, honors or medals. They should be prosecuted and put in jail [“Military’s newest honor: medal for digital warriors,” News, Feb. 14].

I wonder what is so honorable about killing an innocent father, mother or their children while you are sitting in an air-conditioned room 8,000 miles away, sipping free cappuccino and randomly pushing a joystick around, [which] with a single push of a plastic button, you [can] commit an atrocity. The Pentagon calls this honor and will award this insanity and murdering of people by a medal?

This is very disturbing for the people who were blessed with empathy, common sense and morality, but what heck, pot is legal now so we can all get high and forget about the killing of innocent people who have done absolutely nothing to us.
