Seattle School Board votes to not open a Northeast middle school this fall
Vote puts middle-school students at risk
Four Seattle Public School Board members (Sharon Peaslee, Kay Smith-Blum, Betty Patu and Marty McLaren) voted to do nothing to alleviate immediate capacity issues for the fall of 2013 in Northeast Seattle middle schools [“No new middle school until ’14,” NWFriday, Feb. 1].
In fact, they voted to add more students to the already overstuffed and unsafe school environment. With their vote, they chose to keep some kids safe in a K-8 program and put others in regular middle schools at higher risk.
