Bus service should take priority over arena
It seems to me that Seattle and King County have more than a paltry $75 million with which to help Metro [“Bus service faces cutbacks; Metro asks city for help,” NWTuesday, Feb. 5]. They should have $200 million for Metro.
You know the amount in construction bonds the city and county have agreed to spend on a new playground for billionaires (NBA owners) and millionaires (NBA players). If the city and county can’t afford that much for bus riders and can’t afford to stop and even reverse the steady 15-year decline in bus service, then they can’t afford the money for a new arena.
As Bill Clinton might put it, “It’s in the arithmetic!”
