Gun-control debate and employers doing criminal-background checks
City suffers from inconsistency
Seattle, again, shows itself to be a strange and weird place.
On the one hand, the city wants to limit, restrict and control law-abiding citizens from buying and using a completely legal tool (the dreaded, oh my God, it is a gun!) [“Seattle want another gun buyback,” page one, Jan. 29].
On the other hand, it wants to limit employers ability to do background checks on potential employees and have you interface with those convicted felons and mentally ill at your place of work, your home or where you do business, without you or the business even being aware of it [“Don’t force employers to hire applicants with criminal records,” Opinion, Jan. 30].
