Lance Armstrong makes halfhearted confession
Armstrong is not alone in his doping
Certainly, Lance Armstrong is not an altar boy, nor is he the sole rider looking to chemistry to further performance in one of the most grueling of sporting events [“Armstrong peddles a dopey confession,” Opinion, Jan. 22].
Unfortunately, the sport has a history of pushing the rules including the misguided opinion in the 1920s that smoking increased lung capacity.
There is a reason no one has been named the winner in the tours vacated by Armstrong. The Tour de France would have to work its way through the top 20 finishers in each of those years to find a clean rider.
