Vaccinate for heavy flu season
Side effects ignored
In reference to The Seattle Times reports on the escalation of the flu season [“‘Severe’ flu season: still time for vaccine,” page one, Jan. 5], only the so-called benefits were stated while the possible side effects were ignored. I find this to be a disservice to your readers.
I received a vaccination of high-dose vaccine, which the pharmacy told me was needed for seniors over 65. Other than the normal warnings nothing was said about the possible risks of high dose vaccines.
That same evening I had a severe medical reaction. Rushed to emergency, doctor performed X-rays, a CT scan and blood cultures looking for causes other than the flu shot, all results were negative.
Now owing for three days of emergency and hospital care I would advise anyone considering a high-dose vaccination to be very cautious.
