Washington prison system changes rehabilitation strategies
Not a political issue
I appreciate the informative article by Jonathan Martin on solitary confinement in prisons [“State rethinks solitary cells,” page one, Jan. 8].
I do object, however, to his writing, “It is a clear movement to the left in prison management ...” In a divisive political climate, could he not say it is a movement based on research and studies on prison management? Do such changes need to be expressed as left or right?
