NFL Black Monday firings is a diversity opportunity
Two minority coaches fired
The underlying message of “NFL firing binge a diversity opportunity” [Editorials, Jan. 4] is laudable and I am glad to see that The Seattle Times editorial board has taken this position.
The editorial notes that five head coaches are African American and including the Hispanic coach that means a total of six minority coaches. The problem? Two of those coaches, Lovie Smith and Romeo Crennel, were included in the seven fired on Black Monday.
So the real number, as of today, is four minority coaches. An even more compelling point, but one that was missed by apparently failing to identify the coaches fired.
