UW grants posthumous degree to late student with terminal cancer

Celebration of life
Thank you for publishing “UW grants degree to late student undaunted by terminal cancer” [NWWednesday, Jan. 2] about Nolan Roquet.

The media generally focus on the urgent, dangerous or shocking. Roquet's hard work and posthumous degree was none of the above, yet definitely something worth printing.

What a celebration of his life. Roquet inspired many by simply caring and being committed in all aspects of his life. Katherine Long's words invite readers to do the same.

Each day is a gift. We would be remiss to stop trying, to face our days with less compassion or courage simply because we have more time.

—Christine Stalie, Vancouver
