Bamboo, a female Asian elephant is one of three elephants at the Woodland Park Zoo. Zoos' efforts to preserve and propagate elephants have largely failed, both in Seattle and nationally.
Need for public awareness
Thank you so much for all that The Seattle Times is doing for those elephants [“Elephants are dying out in America’s zoos,” News, Dec. 1]. Hopefully with support for elephants and public awareness, those intelligent and sensible animals will have a chance to a fair assessment and finally be able to retire to a kinder place.
I applaud The Seattle Times for making the public aware of this.
