A wet December ends 2012
Focus on the sun
I had to almost laugh about “A wet December caps a wet new year,” [NWWednesday, Jan. 2] reporting the amount of rain we had in 2012. We emphasize rain so much around here that people in the rest of the country naturally assume that the rain never stops. You know what everyone else cares about? Sun.
So what if Seattle has an average rainfall of 37.49 inches and in 2012 had 48.26 inches. That’s nothing. Miami, Fla., averages 60 inches of rain each year and 45 of those inches fall between March and September — the summer months.
My point is that when people in other parts of the country think about Seattle they want to know if we have any sun, yet all reported in The Seattle Times weather page is precipitation, temperature, winds and tides — but no sun.
