Tow-truck firms sue over Seattle's cap on fees
Shame on tow-truck operators
I urge our city officials to pursue the tow-fee cap and to impose tighter limits than they might have if the towing companies had negotiated reasonable fees [“Tow-truck firms sue over Seattle’s cap on fees,” News, Dec. 27].
We, the taxpayers, now have to pay the legal costs, which should have been unnecessary. The towing companies’ lawsuit demonstrates that they are exploitive and have no concern for the public interest. Shame on them.
In the meantime, the city should refuse to renew the business license of any towing company that does not offer reasonable rates. Also, the city should order the Seattle DOT to do the towing in the interim. Give the towing companies a taste of their own medicine, impound them.
