Commemoration of Rep. Norm Dicks' service
On reading The Seattle Times article on Rep. Norm Dicks, I was disappointed on the characterization of Congress, specifically, the statement regarding Norm’s tenure. To wit: “It ends at a time when the fractious conservative House caucus has helped turn politics into a constant loop of brinkmanship” [“Dicks in last days of 36-year career,” page one, Dec. 29].
This is a perfectly fine opinion to have — but it is just that — an opinion. I can offer serious and multiple instances on the Senate side and also among the Democrats in the House, where their divisive positions and lack of any efforts lead to a “constant loop of brinkmanship.” The ownership of this belongs to members of both parties.
Other than that, a good article and worthy of Dicks’ long and successful tenure representing his district.
