Obama and Boehner press for fiscal cliff solution
Truth behind the Bush-era tax cuts |
For about a decade we've been told by the left and the media that the so-called “Bush tax cuts” (never mind that Congress ultimately passes tax law) were just tax breaks for the rich.
Now that they are about to expire and House Republicans are insisting on some federal spending sanity before tax rates are addressed, we are told that if the Bush-era tax cuts expire, the average middle class family will see an increase of thousands of dollars taxes [“Obama vows to press ahead on fiscal cliff solution,” news, Dec. 20].
If that's correct, then all along they have not just been tax cuts for the rich. When were we told the truth — for the last 10 years, or now? Only one story can be true.
