Washington state conservatives consider Texas
Progress, not pagan
I found it interesting in reading “Election has some thinking Of Texas,” [page one, Dec. 8] that some conservatives and Christians compare the recent election results to Washington becoming like pagan Rome.
Pagan Rome accomplished many worthy things in its time and was the height of civilization. We have utilized many engineering, legal and governmental ideas from Rome that have benefited our own society. So, I'll proudly take that comparison.
The people of the state voted and now the conservative faction wants to sit in judgment of our lost cause of a state. I believe as a Christian the first rule to observe is the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” If anything, the election results made us as a state more accepting of all peoples and a charitable example to the nation.
What some call “pagan,” I consider progress. Long live Washington.
