Seattle considers stipend for married same-sex city employees
City should not be involved
The mayor of Seattle now wants to pay a monthly stipend to Seattle employees who are in a same-sex marriage to make up for the discrimination tax wise because the federal code does discriminate in this regard [“Seattle is weighing a stipend for married same-sex city employees,” NWWednesday, Dec. 5].
Mr. Mayor, if you want to donate personally, put your money where your mouth is and you donate. For the city to make such expenditures or to even be involved in such a matter is totally wrong.
