Fiftieth anniversary of Seattle Center
Restore the vision
A resounding yes to Albert Shen’s op-ed “Seattle Center’s potential has not been fulfilled” [Opinion, Dec. 4].
When my family moved here in 1978, Seattle Center was the place to bring your family for sports, the arts, activities and just plain fun. It lived up to its name as the center of our city life.
Fifty years after Seattle Center’s celebratory opening, the city has seen the fulfillment of its futuristic predictions as the supreme center of technological, innovative, creative business empires while Seattle Center struggles to maintain a place at the city’s table. Our elected leaders have failed to prioritize Seattle Center’s place in our community.
Must our Cinderella Center forever sit in the ashes or will she get to go to the ball after all?
